Bowling + Fun = Success!

Guys,

I was wandering around Strike last night absolutely bowled over (sorry) by the number of people enjoying themselves.

Just seeing so many smiles, entire families letting loose on the pins, friendly rivalries, and good times made the fundraising aspect quite secondary.  What I saw last night was a true expression of Community, and we should be very proud.

We haven't haven't gone to the bank just yet, but here are the initial results:
Tickets sold: 383
Net proceeds to the troop: $1,907

A special You Sold How Many? award goes to the Beddow family for chalking up 39 tickets.  Fantastic!  Well-earned Whittaker's chocolate coming their way.
There is a tough competition for second place, but we'll let you know when the judges have been sufficiently bribed to render a decision.

What's good too is that I think Strike did pretty well out of this, compared to a typical Tuesday night.  I certainly hope that we can partner up again.

Thanks to Ross Pritchard for putting together a great event and a huge fundraiser!

Everyone's arms can rest up this week, as there will be no Scouts this Thursday.
Quiz Night is coming up quickly on 6 November!

I've sent around a Jamboree update email to all parents.  Please have a read a get back to me with any questions.

Also, I've posted a new roster for the Mad Butcher sizzle on 30 October - please pick up a slot where you can.

Great night tonight - excellent and innovative dryland rowing training!

Phone book wrap-up and new term information

This was one of those events where we all showed real spirit, put in the hours and got the job done.  Fantastic effort from everyone!

Thank you to all the parents, Scouts, Leaders, family members and friends who gave your time and energy this weekend to get the phone books out.

We had some unique challenges this year - delays, grumpy neighbours, and smaller space.  But in the end we got through it all and our community appreciates it.

===

Term 4 begins this week; please remember that in Terms 4 and 1 we begin at 6:30pm.
There is a very important parent meeting this week from 6:30pm to 7pm at the den where we will be explaining the Jamboree finances.

===

The Scout activity this week will be boat preparation - the cutters need a bit more sanding, then varnish and some paint repairs.  Please come to Scouts with work clothes in addition to your uniform.

===

Finally, we have two pallets of phone books, tables, rubbish bags and the BBQ still at the warehouse.  We would like to clear all that out this week, so we are asking that any parents who have trailers available please bring them on Thursday night.

Again, a huge Thank You for another successful phone book operation!
