Earthquake

During the Shaking…

  • Stay inside the building
  • Take Shelter - follow leaders instruction
  • Move up against a wall or solid object, crouch and protect yourself from falling objects
  • Be aware of any falling objects – be prepared to move out of the way if necessary

After the Shaking…

  • Follow leaders instructions
  • Leaders to check the ‘safety’ of the den and boat sheds
  • Account for everybody
  • Deal with life threatening problems such as major injuries
  • If the area is unsafe - EVACUATE

  • Leave the building in an orderly manner through the nearest accessible exit
  • Take ‘Rumble Kits’ with you

If the area is safe

Remain in the building and await instructions from leaders


Tsunami

Warning Given …

  • Listen to instructions of your leaders
  • Move as calmly and as quickly as you can
  • Assemble in the parking lot in front of the boat sheds and move off together
  • Head to the evacuation location

Life Threatening Event

If the following is noticed in or around the den – gas leak, chemical spill, mad animal, intruder/offender bomb alert

  • Scouts outside – Move inside quickly, quietly and calmly
  • Once inside, lie flat on the ground in the den as close to a wall as possible
  • Put all mobile phones on silent
  • Do not move unless instructed to by a leader or police/fire brigade
