Scouts: ANZAC Day parade

Hi Guys

Just to remind you all that ANZAC Day is on Sunday 25 April and the NTSS Group has for several years been a large part of the Porirua morning parade and service.

Yes, it is voluntary but I would rather think that this is COMPULSORY for all Scouts with exceptions only for really, really good excuses – your own death, abducted by aliens (yeah right).

This year we will be accompanied by an 85 year old from Invercargill who was a fighter pilot with the NZAF 14th Squadron in the Pacific in WII. He was Venturer age, in fact a Jellicoe Sea Scout, when war broke out and signed up as soon as he “claimed” to be 18. Scary thought, eh? He is looking forward to, in fact proud to be able to, march with you in the Parade.

So details are 8:30 am (at the latest) to meet by the old Warehouse Stationary store on Lydney Place off Lyttleton Ave to March to the Parade start point at 8:40am (at the latest).  Please be on time, and dressed in full uniform – Jerseys, scarves, badge epaulettes, dark trousers or jeans and dark shoes.

Afterwards, we will head to the Den for morning tea and Scouts can go sailing in the cutters and Sunbursts if they wish – out to Plimmerton if the weather is good. Kayaks will no doubt hit the water as well.

Cheers

Roger
