RAID on Titahi Bay Scouts

Wow, what a blast.  Titahi Bay Scouts welcomed us with a gusto that continued through the whole evening and everyone had a fantastic time.

The flour bombs welcomed us as we came up the road towards the den (score 1 to Titahi Bay).  They pelted us with what felt like several hundred and some of us came away looking quite white!

We then challenged them to some stretcher races.  Equipment gathered and taken outside, the stretchers were duly made and raced around the whole course.  It was a little disconcerting at first for us Sea Scouts as the course was a circle instead of a triangle (like we do in sailing) but we soon got the hang of it and took line honours (score 1 for Ngati Toa).

Titiahi Bay then challenged us to some touch rugby and it soon became evident that despite huge rugby experience within our lines, some of the basics of touch rugby were not there. (score 2 for Titahi Bay)

Thereafter followed puzzles in the den.  All clearly won this one, as the prize was Milo and biscuits courtesy of Titahi Bay.

We followed this all up with a different "Flag down" ceremony to the one we are used to, but just as moving as ours.

A great deal of comraderie was shared and bags of fun was had by all.  Titahi Bay excelled themselves as hosts and made us want to host them some time too.  Especially around sailing season where we would be able to share experiences they would not normally get access too.

Thank you to Titahi Bay and we hope to see you over our way soon.
